he informations below are useful for foreign production companies coming for footages in Brazil

PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR FOREIGN CREWS SHOOTING IN BRAZIL

For shooting film or TV programs in Brazil, a foreign crew must first enter into a partnership with a Brazilian production company registered with ANCINE for the purpose of making films and TV programs. See list under “REGISTRO/SERVIÇOS”, “Empresas Cadastradas” located at lower left corner of Ancine’s frontal webpage.

This company is the one who will deal directly with ANCINE for all practical purposes and for all issues concerning permission to film or tape in Brazil.

Next, the Brazilian partner company in charge of the production will send a fax to ANCINE requesting permission for the shooting. This request must include all the data listed below. This request must be signed by the Brazilian company’s legal representative and it is mandatory that the signed original be mailed to ANCINE’s headquarter offices in Rio de Janeiro at:

Agência Nacional do Cinema
Praça Pio X , nº 54 10º andar
ATT: SRCF
20091-040 – Rio de Janeiro – RJ - BRAZIL

The request must contain the following information:

1. Name and address of the Brazilian company in charge;

2. Name and address of the foreign company or the company legally in charge of the enterprise;

3. Name, passport number and function of the foreign technicians;

4. Name and DRT registration number of Brazilian technicians hired ;

5. Title of the film or program;

6. Theme of the work to be shot (in case of an advertisement piece, please state name of product, client and ad agency in charge of the work

7. Time period when shooting will take place

8. Place where shooting will take place;

9. Indicate a Brazilian post (Embassy or Consulate) abroad where ANCINE should send its agreement and the permission for foreign technicians to come and work in this country.

The following documents must be submitted by mail with the formal request from the partner Brazilian company:

a) copy of the contract signed between the foreign company or company legally in charge of the enterprise and the Braziliana company. Contract must clearly state responsibilities, reciprocities, form of payment, and the period the contract is valid for;

b) copy of the translation of the contract above when not originally written in Portuguese;

c) copy of the visa request made for the foreign crew at the Brazilian Consulate in the country of origin of the foreign company, signed by the company in charge of the enterprise;

d) letter from the Brazilian company stating where visas should be applied for in the country of origin of the foreign company;

e) a list of equipment and materials to be brought into the country to be used in the enterprise for temporary Customs clearance;

f) copies of work contracts of the Brazilian crew involved;
g) a production plan stating locations in Brazil where filming or taping will take place.

In case the Brazilian partner company will involve its own employees, and they are registered as “Film Technicians” , this registration and presentation of the work card may replace the work contract (item 3).

It is required that the partner Brazilian company inform ANCINE, upon requesting the permission for the shooting, a contact at the foreign Brazilian post where the original company is from, and whenever possible, the name of the Consular Authority, phone anf fax numbers where he/she can be contacted.

OBS: Please notice the number of Brazilian technicians to be hired for the production: for every 3 foreign technicians, one Brazilian technician must be hired in Brazil. The Brazilian company partner/owner is also considered as a Brazilian technician hired.

After receiving the request from the partner Brazilian company, and processing the documentation, ANCINE will fax the filming permit to the Brazilian Consulate or Embassy where the foreign crew has asked for their temporary visas

A copy of this filming permit will also be sent to the Brazilian partner company.

Any alterations in the documentation must be informed to Ancine via the Anexo 2 form.
